Training activities designed to give people practice skills such as caring for self and home, using public transportation, etc.

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996)
Limits what medical and personal information can be released to the “minimum necessary,” and only after the person provides written consent

Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)
Federal funding stream - services may only be provided to persons who meet both financial and functional eligibility criteria for Medicaid-financed institutional services (i.e. nursing home, ICF/MR or inpatient hospital services), but who choose to receive services in non-institutional settings instead

Human Rights Committee
Provides a third-party review process to safeguard the rights of people receiving services; reviews concerns about restrictions of legal rights

Human Services
Something of a catch-all category covering a broad range of services and facilities provided by public, quasi-public, and private agencies, including the provision and placement of daycare and adult care facilities, group homes, mental health facilities, homeless and other types of shelters, professional offices, and human service agency facilities
